Keepsakes is a wrap!
Shared Venture Project - KEEPSAKES
Affordable Manuscript Assessments is looking for authors and illustrators who would like to contribute to a book of stories for adults, which will run in the same way as the original Charms Project for children. For those who are unfamiliar with that, here is a brief run-down of the Keepsakes Project.
*Each contributor will choose a keepsake from the list at the foot of this page. You can see the pictures on the Available Keepsakes page.
*As keepsakes are chosen, the names on the list will be marked (chosen) and the pictures on the next page will be stamped with the word Chosen! Therefore you can tell at a glance which ones are available.
More keepsakes will be added from time to time.
*Each keepsake will be used as inspiration for a short story or poem
*As with the Charms project, stories would be stand-alone but incorporated in a bracket story
*Stories can be of any genre, set in any period, and have any characters
*The bracket story characters will not be involved in any of the other stories
*Stories should ideally be under 3000 words
*Stories may be connected with the authors' own existing works
*Artwork is also most welcome. This may or may not be connected with a Keepsake.
*Payment will not be made for the stories or art but...
*Every contributor will have a full page advertisement in which to talk up their books, projects, services or hobby/charity/interest
*Contributors will receive their chosen charm/keepsake(s) in the post unless they wish not to do so
*Every contributor has full copyright of his/her own story, including the edited version
*The book will be available for purchase from the printer (NOT from the editor) at cost. Authors may do what they like with any stock they buy, but no author is under any obligation to buy copies.
The deadline for *keepsake choice in 31/12/13. The deadline for story sub is Feb 1st, 2014. Writers who sign up will be kept informed with occasional emails. For more general updates, and to watch the progress of the Crock of Charms Project, come back to this site.
*Should you choose a keepsake and then find you can't make the deadline, don't stress. This project is meant to be fun. It would be good if you can let me know, but if you forget this is NOT a problem. We will keep to deadlines if possible.
If you'd like to join the project, choose a keepsake from the list and send me an email at sodgers AT iinet.net.au with KEEPSAKES in the subject line. In the body of the email, include your chosen keepsake, and a postal address so I can send the physical keepsake
If you don't see a keepsake that appeals to you, let me know your subject/interest and I'll try to find something suitable
